Dr Sundus Yahya is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist specialising in breast cancer treatment. She practices privately at Spire Little Aston, HCA The Harborne Hospital, and The Priory Hospital in Birmingham, providing expert care for patients requiring personalised oncology treatment. With a wealth of experience in breast cancer care, Dr Yahya is known for her patient-focused approach and commitment to offering the latest and most effective cancer therapies.
Dr Yahya completed her medical training in the Mersey and North West region, followed by specialist clinical oncology training in the West Midlands. During her training, she obtained a Master’s in Clinical Oncology from the University of Birmingham, further advancing her expertise in cancer treatment. She was also awarded the prestigious RCR Cyclotron Fellowship in 2016, which allowed her to train in Proton Therapy at the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute, where she gained valuable experience in cutting-edge radiation therapies.
Dr Yahya currently holds a substantive post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham, where she serves as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist. She also holds leadership positions, including being the MSCC (Malignant Spinal Cord Compression) Lead and having served as the Radiotherapy Service Lead from 2021 to 2023. Dr Yahya’s contributions to cancer services have been substantial, including her role as the M&M Lead for cancer services from March 2019 to December 2020. Her dedication to improving oncology care extends to her involvement as a Medical Tribunal member of the First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber (Social Security and Child Support) for the UK Judicial Office in 2018.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr Yahya is passionate about education and training. She is a GMC-accredited trainer and has played a key role in oncology education, both within the UK and internationally. Through the RCR International Travelling Fellowship, she has delivered oncology training to healthcare professionals in low- and middle-income countries between 2017 and 2019. Her commitment to advancing cancer treatment extends to clinical research, where she is actively involved in breast and lung cancer trials as a Principal and Co-investigator. She is also trained in delivering advanced stereotactic radiotherapy techniques, such as CyberKnife and VMAT.
